Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) at Scottish Martial Arts Centre
What is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu?
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art, combat sport, and self-defence system that focuses on ground fighting and submission techniques. Rooted in leverage, positioning, and technique rather than size or strength, BJJ empowers practitioners of all shapes and abilities to defend themselves effectively.
Training in BJJ develops:
Practical Self-Defence Skills – learning to control and neutralise an opponent.
Physical Fitness – improving strength, flexibility, endurance, and coordination.
Problem-Solving & Strategy – every roll (sparring round) is like a game of physical chess.
Confidence & Discipline – building resilience both on and off the mats.
BJJ is suitable for beginners, hobbyists, and competitors alike. Whether your goal is fitness, fun, or testing yourself in competition, our classes provide a welcoming and structured path to progress.
